Prompt Troubleshooting

💡Remember, prompting is a skill like any other, with a little practice and attention to detail, you’ll see huge improvements in your outputs right away.

If you’re not getting your desired outputs, try these techniques to finetune your prompts:

  1. Identify Issues: Recognize common issues such as vague responses, incorrect information, or off-tone outputs.
  • If the outputs are not what you wanted, double check your REDIT framework and ensure you have specified exactly what task you want the AI to perform.
  • If ChatGPT’s response to a market analysis request is too broad, specify the market segment and key metrics to focus on.
  1. Be Specific: Clearly state what you want, including context, desired length, and specific points to cover.
  • “Provide a 200-word summary of the latest trends in IoT applications for manufacturing.”
  1. Use Iterative Testing: Continuously test and refine prompts to improve response accuracy and relevance.
  • Modify the original prompt (don’t use ‘regenerate response’) slightly and observe changes in responses, e.g., adjusting details on supply chain efficiency metrics.
  1. Include Contextual Details: Provide background information relevant to the task.
  • “Considering the recent advancements in AI, explain how these technologies can enhance predictive maintenance in smart factories.”
  1. Feedback Loop: Utilize responses to give feedback and adjust instructions accordingly.
  • If the output is too technical, include feedback like “Simplify the explanation for a non-technical executive audience.”
